If you're a fan of winter sports, Wallace couldn't be in a more ideal location. A short drive from two great ski mountains east and west of town, Lookout Pass Ski Resort and Silver Mountain Ski Resort, you're close to snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.
Choose the ski resort that best fits your style, talent and desires. Lookout Pass, home of the nation's longest operating free ski school, has the Best Snow in Idaho! Located 10 miles east of Wallace on the Idaho - Montana border, Lookout's easy access, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and great value attracts boarders and skiers of all skill ranges. Lookout is open Thursday - Monday. Be sure to ask about the Best Ski Pacs available. For the 2007 - 2008, Lookout will unveil its 3rd full sized lift opening up some major intermediate and expert terrain. Until then, the skiing continues to be awesome.
Silver Mountain Ski Resort is 10 miles to the west of the Wallace Inn at Exit 49 on Interstate 90. Silver gets you to the top of the Bitteroots Mountains by way of the World's Longest Single Stage Gondola that whisks you 3,000' up Kellogg Peak to start your skiing. Multiple chairs spread throughout the resort open up groomed and powder runs depending on what delights you. Formally known as Jackass Ski Bowl, then Silverhorn, Silver Mountain is a big time ski resort with home town charm. Ski pacs are available at the Inn.
